What is the easiest way to determine the hosting company of an offender who has copied or re-used your creative work?

On a Windows machine (or utility which offers the necessary command), open a DOS box and "ping" the domain name. That is, after the "slash" character, type "ping example.com" (without the quote-marks), where "example.com" is the plagiarising domain's name.

In the various lines which are returned for this command, you will see an IP address, something looking like 123.123.123.123.

Take this number and go somewhere like ARIN; do a search on the IP address to find the host who owns this number. This should be the host for the offending domain.

Good luck!

Eliz.

This is great, Eliz.  Thanks so much for this.  It's a big help and I appreciate it.
