I use Copyscape's premium search option on a daily basis, but recently the "Compare Text" option has not been working on a consistent basis. Instead of showing the site and highlighting the duplicate text, it frequently pops up a jumble of letters and symbols and says at the top, "It appears your content has recently been removed from this site." However, if you use the actual link provided, the site comes up and, looking through it, you can find duplicate content.

Does anyone have any insight as to what's going on here?

In my experience, this means that the "page" in question is actually a PDF file or some other non-HTML source. You have to go to the site to see what's actually going on.

Hi,

Could you post a specific example where you see this behavior, including the text you searched for, and the URL of the page which came up? We can then check into your case specifically, since we're not seeing this problem in general.

Thanks,

The Copyscape Team
